What Is BroadBand Light Therapy?

BroadBand Light Therapy works by using therapeutic light energy that gently warms the top layer of skin and starts collagen production. Patients with a wide range of skin issues can benefit from BBL in Tampa because it works to address unwanted freckles, broken blood vessels, rosacea, and sun damage. It can also help create a more even and smooth skin texture to generate fresh, luminous skin. BBL can be combined with other cosmetic treatments to achieve your aesthetic goals.

Who Is a Candidate?

The team at VIVIFY Med Spa in Tampa, FL, would love to discuss using BBL as an innovative solution proven to help rejuvenate skin. An ideal candidate for BBL would be those that are experiencing hyperpigmentation or unevenly textured skin due to sun damage, damaged capillaries, rosacea, or acne. BBL also stimulates the regeneration of collagen. By varying the settings and filter used for the treatment, BBL may be used as both a therapy and/or a maintenance regimen for a variety of skin conditions. Not everyone is a candidate for this procedure so it is important to meet with our provider to determine the best treatment options. Before receiving treatment, our nurse practitioner Michelle Buchanan will help you understand how BBL technology might help you reach your cosmetic goals.

What Are the Benefits of BroadBand Light Therapy?

As a non-invasive cosmetic procedure, BroadBand Light Therapy uses intense pulsed light (IPL) technology to improve the appearance of skin imperfections. Some of the benefits of BBL include the following:

  • Improved skin texture and tone
  • Reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Treatment of sun damage and age spots
  • Safe and non-invasive
  • Quick and convenient
  • Customizable to meet each patient's unique needs and goals, with different wavelengths and filters available to target specific concerns
  • Long-lasting results

What to Expect with BroadBand Light Therapy

After developing the appropriate treatment plan, the BBL treatment settings will be adjusted to fit your unique needs. Before beginning the procedure, your eyes will be covered to protect them from the laser's light. Michelle Buchanan will then gently pass the laser over your skin while concentrating on your specific needs. The amount of time necessary for your treatment will vary, depending upon the area being treated and whether any other services were added to the BBL session.

BBL procedures can typically be finished in an hour or less. Following the therapy, our staff will supply post-treatment care instructions and may advise limited sun exposure. Patients can generally resume their regular daily routine right away but often should refrain from strenuous exercise or sweating for at least 24 hours. Outcomes from BBL in Tampa can be seen within 2-6 weeks after the initial therapy, but the best results will be observed after repeat BBL sessions. Michelle Buchanan will recommend the number of procedures needed to achieve your desired outcome.
